One of the most famous ancient arts of Kashmir is copper ware items. The copper smith of Kashmir who are equally competent in making masterpieces in silver and brass have maintained the traditional work and the quality of products. They use hammers and chisel to engrave copper ware items of household utility like bowls, frames, samovars, flower vases, tea sets scent chests, ornamental picture frames, cigarette lighters, lemon set etc. Floral styled, geometrical, leaf and calligraphic motifs are engraved or embossed on copper and occasionally silver to cover the entire surface with intricate designs which are then oxidized, so as to stand out better from the background. The work on copper ware items is known as “naqashi” and determines the price of the object as does the weight. The leaves of chinar (maple tree) and lotus are the trendy pattern. A very popular and elegant Kashmiri copper ware product item is ''''samovar'''' (tea kettle of Russian origin) which was used in almost every Kashmiri household in yesteryears because of the fact the drinking water stored in a copper vessel is quite beneficial for health and also does enhance the flavor of famous Kashmiri tea ''''kahwa'''' when served in ''''samovar''''. All the designs on copper ware items made by these master craftsmen are unique and attractive. These craftsmen are also receptive to any new design or pattern offered to them. Our range of items includes copper samovar, antique copper bowls, copper mughal jugs and lemon sets.
